the bike is now lovely and clean ready to be worked upon.
the tool kit and book i bought should arrive during the week. still a lot to get.
everything is coming together but of course i’ve spent more money than i should have, but of course as this is the first time ive done this im encountering a few more expenses than i would say having had things like paint, cleaners and tools already.
total cost: £80
if anyone wants to guess the number for the combination lock that is attached to it please have a guess.
a clean bike is a happy bike.
today the main objective is to get the bike clean so i can begin to work on it.
so im off to buy degreaser (and lots of it) lube and oil. silly things like brakes and innertubes will have to wait.
i shall also purchase some cheap tools to work on all the little bits.
Total cost: £42.74
so ideally id like to do up this bicycle for a reasonable amount i realise that these types of projects have a tendency to spiral so il be keeping a record on here of how much i’m spending.
i’m almost certain that this project is going to be almost purely based around vanity. i want this bike to look good!
i love my current bike a ‘Marin - lucas valley’, but its almost too good for me. i need something a bit rough and ready i can tinker with and wont mind leaving chained up outside the pub. i get palpitations leaving the Marin out in public despite its incredibly heavy gold standard lock.
i’m certainly no expert when it comes to this sort of thing so it should be a good learning experience how much i’l be able to customise is yet to be seen but i have a real hankering to buy some spray paint.
so there it is, i collect my frame wheels and fork tomorrow.
